Electricity and Love

This is dedicated to you 3amo Saleem.

I was chatting to 3amo Saleem on the MSN, who is my mom’s cousin and at the same time my auntie’s husband, who lives in Iraq.

He was asking me how is the family doing and loved ones in Kuwait, well I told him simply trying to make it with this heat (how stupid of me), he replied well we are trying to SURVIVE THE HEAT back here in Baghdad, the electricity shuts off for 20 hours a day and they don’t have petrol to work the generators, how ironic could that be, Iraq with no petrol!! By the way they have a curfew also, so basically stay at home and die from heat.

Yesterday the electricity was shut off in different parts of Kuwait, some parts half an hour and some more, but the complains I heard from people were simply STUPID.

Any way to cut the story short, I asked him how are they doing after the death of his nephew who died a month ago, killed by some lunatics, followers of Muqtada Alsader, just because he is a Sunni who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I wondered how his mom was doing, he answered me that untie Iman is done with life, my eyes started filling up with tears, untie Iman who with all the difficulties in life, she kept on going, she has a PHD in biology, is now finally done with life. They have ran away from Baghdad to Mousel leaving all sorts of memories behind.

I didn’t know what to say to him, I asked him if he gets a chance to talk to her to give her my LOVE, I know that would not change a thing to her but at these difficult times we have only love to give.
